Nizhny Novgorod police solved the theft of electronic equipment from a repair shop in Sormovo.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, employees of the criminal investigation department of Police Department No. 8 solved the theft of electronic equipment from a repair workshop located on the basement floor of a residential building in the Sormovsky district of the city on Heroes of Cosmos Street. A report of the crime was received by the duty unit of the district police in early May of this year. Arriving at the scene, investigators established that the perpetrator had entered the locked room by prying open a wall made of particle board. The thief's haul included eight mobile phones, a tablet, a laptop, and wireless headphones. The total amount of damage exceeded 70,000 rubles. A criminal case was initiated based on the signs of a crime provided for in paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. As a result of operational-search activities, the police identified and detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 35-year-old local resident who had previously been held criminally liable for similar property crimes. The man was detained at his residence in Sormovo. The gadgets he stole have been seized and will be returned to the rightful owner shortly. The suspect has been placed under a travel restriction. The sanction for the article he is charged with provides for a punishment of up to 5 years in prison.
