A local resident will stand trial in the Nizhny Novgorod region on charges of fraud in obtaining social benefits.

      The prosecutor's office of the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod has approved an indictment in a criminal case against a 34-year-old local resident. She is accused under Part 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in obtaining payments, committed by a group of individuals by prior agreement, in a large amount). According to the investigation, in 2022, the accused, acting as part of a group of individuals in prior agreement with another person, whose criminal case has been separated into a separate proceeding, cashed out funds from the maternity capital. Thus, due to the birth of her second child, the woman received a certificate for maternity capital in the amount of 616,000 rubles. To illegally obtain funds from the maternity capital, she entered into a fictitious loan agreement for the purchase of housing with a credit consumer cooperative for the amount of the certificate funds, as well as a purchase and sale agreement for a real estate object located in the Vetluzhsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The actual value of the real estate was less than the amount of the maternity capital; however, in the loan and purchase agreements, the parties indicated an inaccurate amount equal to the amount of the maternity capital. Subsequently, the accused received funds in accordance with the loan agreement in the amount of the maternity (family) capital to her settlement account, submitted a set of documents with knowingly false information to the social fund department, which, in turn, transferred funds from the maternity capital to the cooperative's account to repay the loan agreement. As a result of implementing the illegal scheme, the participants of the criminal group received budgetary funds, which they distributed among themselves. The criminal case has been sent to the Sormovsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod for consideration on the merits.
