The Nizhny Novgorod city administration was issued a directive due to violations on the Petryaevsky Canal.

On June 23, 2026, at 15:00, the Volga-Oka Department of Rostekhnadzor issued an order to the administration of Nizhny Novgorod due to violations in the maintenance of the Petryaevsky drainage canal. The reason was complaints from residents about flooding of garden plots, the agency's press service reported.

Complaints were received from citizens whose plots are located in the TSN "OAO Nizhny Novgorod Industrial Transport" and "Stroygaz," as well as in the SNT "Fruit and Berry Garden of Teachers" and No. 3 in the Avtozavodsky district. Following this, an unscheduled inspection of the hydraulic structure "Petryaevsky drainage canal" was conducted.

As a result of the inspection, specialists identified five violations. The facility lacks a safety declaration, a pre-declaration survey has not been organized or conducted, and regular inspections of the hydraulic structure are not being carried out.

In addition, there is no contract for mandatory civil liability insurance for harm caused in the event of an accident. Employees have also not been certified on issues related to the safety of hydraulic structures.

The city administration has been ordered to eliminate all identified violations.

Earlier, it was reported that the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, requested a report on the criminal case due to the pollution of the Ryazanka River in Bogorodsk.
