Meat production in the Nizhny Novgorod region increased by 11%
June 22, 2026 17:22 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod region maintains positive dynamics in livestock production. According to the results from January to May 2026, agricultural organizations in the region increased the output of main products, reported the press service of Nizhny Novgorod Statistics. Over five months, farms produced 89 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight. This is 11% more than in the same period last year. The main part of the total meat volume is occupied by poultry - 45%. Almost as much is accounted for by pork - 44%, and another 10% is made up of cattle. Indicators in the dairy sector are also growing. Since the beginning of the year, the region has produced 261 thousand tons of milk - this is 2% more compared to January - May 2025. The average yield per cow reached 3682 kilograms. Compared to last year, the increase was 91 kilograms. Egg production has also increased. Over five months, 533 million eggs were produced - this is 10% more than the previous year. It was previously reported that in the Nizhny Novgorod region, preparations for winter feed began.
