As reported by specialists from the Moscow Planetarium, the season for observing silvery clouds lasts throughout the summer. The most favorable conditions for their appearance will also persist in July. Silvery clouds appear as bright translucent formations against the dark night sky. They are clearly visible in mid and high latitudes, which includes the Nizhny Novgorod region. The best time for observations is the period after sunset and the hours before dawn. It is during this time that the unusual clouds stand out most brightly in the sky. The peculiarity of the phenomenon is that silvery clouds form at altitudes of 70 to 95 kilometers above the Earth's surface — significantly higher than ordinary clouds. Even when the sun has already set below the horizon, they continue to be illuminated by its rays. In the Northern Hemisphere, such clouds are most often seen in the northern part of the sky.
