The police identified the young man who damaged the surveillance camera in the underground passage at the Moscow train station in Nizhny Novgorod. The offender turned out to be a 21-year-old local resident. Administrative protocols have been drawn up against him for petty hooliganism and damage to someone else's property. This was reported by the city's mayor, Yuri Shalabaev, on his Telegram channel.
The story gained wide resonance after the publication of the footage from the surveillance cameras. The video shows a young man with a cigarette walking through the passage and then striking one of the cameras for no apparent reason.
However, the offender's calculations turned out to be incorrect. Despite the damage, the device continued to operate and recorded the incident. It was this footage that subsequently helped to identify the vandal. After the incident, the administration of the Kanavinsky district appealed to law enforcement with a statement. The police promptly conducted an investigation and found the suspect. According to Yuri Shalabaev, this case should serve as a lesson not only for the offender himself but also for those who consider it acceptable to damage municipal property. The damaged camera was quickly restored by specialists, but the consequences for the vandal may remind him of the incident for much longer.
