The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court released the Tambov residents who attacked a traffic police officer from the fine.

      June 18, 2026 16:05 Incidents The regional court reviewed the sentence of three residents of Tambov, convicted of public insult and the use of violence against a police officer in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The appeals were heard on June 16, reported the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the region.

      Recall that in the spring of 2024, one of the convicted, while intoxicated, attempted to flee from traffic police officers. Later, the three men began to insult the inspector and also inflicted multiple blows, causing moderate bodily harm. Then, one of the individuals required an ambulance. During transportation to the medical facility, he began to threaten the paramedic with murder.

      The actions of the offenders were classified under articles concerning the use of violence against a representative of authority, public insult, and threats of murder. One of the men was sentenced to five years in a general regime colony, while the other two received three years of imprisonment and a fine of 30,000 rubles each.

      The judicial panel for criminal cases of the regional court agreed with the classification of the actions of the convicted, but made changes to the sentence, recognizing the commission of crimes while intoxicated as an aggravating circumstance. Also, due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution, the convicted were released from the penalty of a fine for public insult of a representative of authority.

      The appellate ruling came into legal force upon its announcement.
