The "Defenders of the Fatherland" Fund will start assisting two more categories of veterans.
On June 16, 2026, at 10:57, Society President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree expanding the list of categories of combat veterans who can receive support from the state fund "Defenders of the Fatherland." Two new categories have been included in the fund's scope of work. The first is active military personnel who have sustained serious injuries during the special military operation (SMO) and have become disabled but have decided to continue their service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The second is combat veterans who carried out tasks to repel armed invasions in the territories of Russian regions adjacent to the areas of the SMO and have become disabled.
As noted by the fund, the document aims to ensure access to support measures for active military personnel who have become disabled while performing combat tasks during the special operation. The chairwoman of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, state secretary and deputy minister of defense of the Russian Federation Anna Tsivileva emphasized that military personnel who decided to continue their service after sustaining serious injuries and becoming disabled deserve special attention and support.
"It is important to surround them with care and attention, to provide opportunities for an active life. I thank the head of state for the consistent support of our defenders and their families," said Anna Tsivileva.
According to the decree, military personnel and veterans of the specified categories will be able to receive technical rehabilitation aids with the support of the fund, including sports prosthetics, adaptive clothing, cars with hand controls, and means for adapting living spaces. In addition, the fund will involve them in physical culture and sports events, including participation in the "Cup of Defenders of the Fatherland" competitions.
