"Balcony Music" will cover 17 venues in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The Fourth Festival "Music of Balconies" (0+) will take place in the Nizhny Novgorod region from June 20 to August 30. Concerts will be held at 17 venues in Nizhny Novgorod and the region, as well as in five cities of other subjects of Russia. Additionally, the festival will return to the venues of the State Museum-Reserve "Peterhof."
The project is implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
In Nizhny Novgorod, 11 concerts are planned. They will take place on the balconies of historical buildings, including in Minin and Pozharsky Square, at the Rukavishnikov Estate, and at the Syrotkin House. Concerts will also be held in Gorodets, Chkalovsk, Arzamas, Bolshoye Boldino, and other settlements in the region.
The festival will open on June 20 with a concert at the Nizhny Novgorod Drama Theater. The audience will be presented with excerpts from the opera "Ivan Susanin" and other well-known works. The program will feature the Chamber Choir "Nizhny Novgorod," the chamber orchestra "Soloists of Nizhny Novgorod," soloist of the Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance of the Russian Army named after A.V. Alexandrov Stepan Eguraev, and soloist of the Moscow Musical Theater "Helikon-Opera" Valentina Pravidina.
The head of the regional Ministry of Culture, Natalia Sukhanova, noted that the festival has become one of the most beloved cultural projects in the region and continues to expand its geography thanks to the support of the PFKI. According to her, despite the project's development beyond the region, it remains connected to Nizhny Novgorod, and concerts in the region will take place every weekend throughout the festival season.
This year, the festival will again feature soloist of "Helikon-Opera" and invited soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Dmitry Skorikov, performer of folk songs and romances Maya Balashova, and the Chamber Choir "Nizhny Novgorod." For the first time, the project will be joined by the Moscow folk group Vetkafolk and the indie-folk group Settlers from St. Petersburg.
Five concerts will be hosted by the State Museum-Reserve "Peterhof," which has already become a regular participant in the festival.
In 2026, the project will for the first time become all-Russian. Concerts will take place in Plyos, Yaroslavl, Irkutsk, Vladikavkaz, and Vologda. Performances will be held on the balconies and venues of historical buildings and cultural heritage sites. This year's festival theme is "Music of Balconies. Great Rivers." The project's concept is dedicated to the role of rivers in the history, culture, and development of the regions of Russia.
