June 14, 2026 13:59 Society The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Evgeny Lyulin, expressed condolences in connection with the death of World War II veteran, Honorary Citizen of Dzerzhinsk, Nikolai Kuzmich Rudyh. The speaker of the regional parliament published his address on the Max channel. "Our meetings, the veteran's words of encouragement, and his strong handshake will forever remain in our memory..." wrote the Chairman of the ZSNO. Lyulin reminded that Nikolai Rudyh fought on the Transbaikal Front and received the news of Victory on May 9 – on his birthday. According to Lyulin, the veteran remained an example of dedication to his cause even after the war ended. Nikolai Kuzmich worked as a technical supervision engineer until the age of 83 and fearlessly climbed a cargo crane to a height of 150 meters. "A true Defender of the Fatherland, simple and honest, he served the people all his life," emphasized the speaker of the regional parliament. Evgeny Lyulin also noted that he would keep the veteran's teachings in his heart. It should be noted that Nikolai Rudyh passed away at the age of 100 on June 13.
