      On June 13, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the ceremonial opening of the International Volunteer Searchers' Gathering took place at the sports base "Sea of Sports." This year, the National Monitoring Center for Missing and Injured Children gathered more than five hundred participants from six countries: Serbia, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, which granted the gathering international status. The honored guests of the opening ceremony included Ilya Bulygin, Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue Formations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, Vladimir Zharov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Valery Sinkov, Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Svetlana Anufrieva, Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Giorgi Bulia, Head of the Department for Interaction with Regions of the Association of Organizations and Citizens for Assisting Missing and Injured Children "National Monitoring Center for Missing and Injured Children," and Alexander Mudrov, Head of the Local Government of the Gorodets Municipal District. Valery Sinkov emphasized: "Volunteer searchers are reliable and irreplaceable allies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. They provide invaluable assistance in search and rescue operations, and I can call them my colleagues!" The guests wished the volunteers success in their training and in the final search operations, which will take place on June 15-16 in the forest area of the Gorodets District. Participants can expect a rich program aimed at developing effective methods for searching for people with the involvement of volunteer potential, strengthening interregional and interagency cooperation (including with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Investigative Committee, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs), as well as exchanging experiences with foreign colleagues. "It is a great honor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region to host the International Gathering of Volunteer Searchers. Saving lives is an invaluable contribution that requires immense courage and dedication. As a specialized ministry, we particularly appreciate that among those who come to help every day is our youth from the All-Russian Student Corps of Rescuers. Special thanks to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for providing the guys with the opportunity to prove themselves in real search operations, grow professionally, and be a reliable shoulder for those in trouble," emphasized Svetlana Anufrieva, Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Every day, volunteers will hone their professional skills. The program includes classes on cartography, radio communication, search tactics, organizing headquarters, orientation in the field, survival basics in the wild, and first aid. The theoretical training will serve as a foundation for the final search exercises, which will last more than 40 hours in conditions as close to real-life as possible. As the organizers of the gathering note, "cultural and language differences take a back seat when people are united by a common noble goal - saving lives."
