      Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed to present a report on the progress of the inspection following the appeals of Nizhny Novgorod residents who opposed the construction of a large logistics complex near a residential area and a school. A video appeal from the townspeople appeared on the internet and attracted the attention of the federal agency. This was reported by the Information Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

      According to local residents, the site where the facility is planned to be located was previously considered for residential development and the creation of a green zone. However, subsequently, the area was designated for industrial use. The townspeople claim that the development of the area is happening without taking their opinions into account, and the necessary social and transport infrastructure has still not been created.

      The authors of the appeal fear that the emergence of the logistics complex will lead to an increase in freight traffic, a deterioration of the ecological situation, and create additional risks for the safety of children who attend the nearby school daily. According to them, appeals to various authorities have not yet yielded results. Currently, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region is conducting a procedural check. Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the regional department, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on its progress and results. The execution of the instruction has been put under control at the central office of the Investigative Committee.
