A criminal case has been initiated in Nizhny Novgorod regarding illegal gambling activities.
The investigator of the investigative department for the Lenin district of Nizhny Novgorod city of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region has initiated a criminal case under part 2 of article 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal organization and conduct of gambling, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement). According to the investigation, the suspects, acting as a group by prior agreement, organized and conducted gambling in a premises located on Udmurt street in Nizhny Novgorod, in violation of federal legislation, using gaming equipment outside the gambling zone. In June of this year, during joint activities conducted by investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia with employees of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Special Rapid Response Unit of the National Guard of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, the illegal activities of the gaming club were stopped. During urgent investigative actions, gaming equipment, cash, and mobile phones were seized. A local resident has been interrogated as a suspect. A preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave was chosen for the suspect. Currently, the investigators of the Investigative Committee are conducting a series of investigative actions aimed at securing evidence for the criminal case and identifying other individuals involved in the illegal organization and conduct of gambling in the specified gambling establishment.
