Nizhny Novgorod agrarians have started preparing feed for the winter.
On June 6, 2026, at 16:45, Society in the Nizhny Novgorod region launched a campaign for the preparation of feed for livestock. Farms have begun to form stocks of silage, haylage, and hay.
As noted by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the region, Nikolai Denisov, the most important stage of preparation for the winter housing period of 2026-2027 has begun.
According to plans, farmers are expected to prepare 748 thousand tons of silage, 641 thousand tons of haylage, and 137 thousand tons of hay. This volume should ensure the stable operation of livestock enterprises throughout the entire winter season.
The minister emphasized that agricultural organizations are fully equipped with the necessary machinery for conducting feed preparation work. At the moment, 22 thousand tons of haylage and 2.5 thousand tons of silage have already been harvested.
Seventeen municipalities have joined the work. Feed preparation is being carried out in the Arzamas, Bogorodsk, Dalenekonstantinov, Knyagininsky, Lyskovsky, Ardatovsky, Buturlinovsky, Gaginsky, Pochinkovsky, Balakhna, Gorodetsky, Koverninsky, Sokolsky, Uren, Chkalovsky, and Shakhunsky districts, as well as in the Kstovo district of Nizhny Novgorod.
At the same time, the spring sowing campaign continues in the region. Spring sowing has been completed on 83% of the area — farmers have sown 463 thousand hectares, of which 303 thousand hectares are occupied by spring grain crops.
