More than 2800 cases of tick bites have been recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      2821 case of tick bites, including 756 in children, has been recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the insect activity season. This was reported by the Rospotrebnadzor Administration for the Nizhny Novgorod region. Despite the high activity of ticks, the total number of people seeking medical help is 1.3 times lower than the average long-term level. Most often, the insects attacked residents of Bor, Dzerzhinsk, Vetluzhsky, and Pavlovsky districts, as well as in the Soviet, Prioksky, and Avtozavodsky districts of Nizhny Novgorod. At the same time, 37% of bites occurred in household territories, 35% in garden plots, 15% in the forest, and 11.4% in parks and squares. Laboratory studies confirmed the presence of infections. Of the 3811 ticks examined, 3552 of which were removed directly from people, 702 were found to be infected.

      559 ticks with Borrelia, 119 with Anaplasma, 17 with Ehrlichia, and 7 with tick-borne encephalitis virus were identified. The latter were found in Shakhunya, Bor, as well as in Sharangsky and Uren districts. Against this background, 9 cases of Ixodes tick-borne borreliosis among adults have already been registered in Nizhny Novgorod, Arzamas, as well as in Tonkin, Balakhna, Bogorodsk, and Kstovo districts. All were infected within the region, and the diagnosis was confirmed in the laboratory. To protect against dangerous consequences, emergency prevention with tick immunoglobulin was carried out for 448 victims, of which 436 were children. A total of 11,883 people have been vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis, including 2,384 children.
