New qualification requirements have been approved for medical workers in the Nizhny Novgorod region – they will come into effect on September 1, 2026, and will bring a number of changes for both doctors and medical staff. According to the new rules, pediatricians will officially be able to work in educational institutions, providing medical assistance to children during the educational process and in summer health camps. Additionally, a new direction will emerge in the healthcare system – healthy longevity medicine. Therapists, pediatricians, gastroenterologists, geriatricians, dietitians, endocrinologists, cardiologists, neurologists, and medical practitioners will be able to work in this specialty. New specialties will also be introduced for specialists with non-medical education. Thus, kinesiology rehabilitation will become a separate direction for graduates of specialized universities. For the first time, requirements for medical speech therapists with pedagogical or psychological education will be established. New directions will include nutritionology and ergorehabilitation. Another change will affect the heads of medical institutions: alongside the position of chief physician, the position of director of the medical organization will appear in the nomenclature. At the same time, a number of specialties will be excluded from the list. Starting from September 2026, the positions of diabetologist, mycologist, city pediatrician, sexologist, dentist, and several others will disappear.
