Victory volunteers will improve 26 churches in the region.

      The Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory," together with the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis and with the support of the regional government, continues the implementation of the social project "Shrines of Nizhny Novgorod Land." In 2026, volunteers plan to carry out work on the territory of 26 churches of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis. Last year, volunteers participated in the improvement of 10 churches in the region. This year, restoration work will take place in several deaneries and dioceses — in Lyskovsky, Arzamas, Bor, Distant Konstantinov, and other districts. The project aims to preserve historical and spiritual heritage, assist in the improvement and cleaning of church territories. It has received support from the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis. The project was blessed by the Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, Georgy. The first site this season was the church in honor of the Ascension of the Lord in the village of Yelkhovka in the Vadsky district. Volunteers, together with priest Bogdan Pikun, cut down the thickets of shrubs on the adjacent territory and inside the church, removed construction and other debris, and cleaned around the church. Representatives of the educational spiritual and moral program KUPNO "United in Faith!" and the program "Women's Leadership. Nizhny Novgorod Region" also participated in the work. The second stage of work took place at the church in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Borisovo Pole in the Vadsky district and at the church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord in the village of Ikonnikovo in the Gorodetsky district. There, volunteers tidied up the adjacent territories, removed dead wood and debris. The work on the improvement of holy places in the Nizhny Novgorod region will continue until September 2026.
