Nizhny Novgorod residents donated nearly 13 million rubles to charity over five years.

      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod have donated 12.83 million rubles to charity over the past five years through the rounding mechanism of receipts in online services. According to the report from the "Help Nearby" foundation, the city ranked eighth among the largest Russian megacities in this indicator.

      According to the foundation's research, more than 50,000 users in Nizhny Novgorod have used the rounding option for charitable donations at least once. A total of over 1.5 million such transactions were made from 2021 to 2025, allowing the city to enter the top ten in terms of fundraising volume. The data source was a published five-year report from the foundation, based on statistics from the largest online services.

      On a nationwide scale, over 1.6 billion rubles were raised through rounding and direct donations over five years. These funds are directed to support verified non-profit organizations: for purchasing food, medications, essential goods, as well as for paying for taxi rides and delivering packages for people who find it difficult to move and solve everyday tasks independently.

      Thanks to the collected funds, the beneficiaries of NGOs and their staff made over 2.23 million taxi rides and used the package delivery service more than 38,000 times. Additionally, social advertising is being created through the foundation's grants, which has garnered over 20 billion views in five years and helps to inform a wide audience about the work of charitable organizations.

      The foundation emphasizes that automatic rounding of small amounts in everyday payments has become an important tool for systemic assistance. Despite the fact that the average amount of one rounding in 2025 was only 12.3 rubles, the cumulative result over the years has turned into hundreds of millions of rubles in support for hundreds of NGOs across the country, among which residents of Nizhny Novgorod actively participate.
