The Nizhny Novgorod major who caused the accident recorded an apology from a rehabilitation center.

The young man reported that he is currently undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation center for people with alcohol dependence. He also admitted that he got behind the wheel while intoxicated.

      "All the words I said regarding the accident are not true; they were said under the influence of alcohol. I sincerely regret what I have done. I apologize once again," Korinlov stated.

After the incident, he went to a restaurant, where he continued to consume alcohol with a friend. On social media, responding to criticism for driving while intoxicated, he wrote: "Poverty, please don't be offended that you can't afford such a car." Four administrative protocols were drawn up against Korinlov. The police also reported that since the beginning of 2025, 161 administrative materials have been filed against him, of which 51 were for evading administrative punishment. On May 24, it became known that two criminal cases have been initiated against the 21-year-old suspect. The chairman of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken control of the investigation and the established circumstances.
