Oilseed crops have been planted on an area of 35 thousand hectares (soybeans, sunflowers, rapeseed, mustard, oil flax). Forage crops have been sown on 23.3 thousand hectares. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Nikolai Denisov, checked the progress of the sowing campaign in the Vadsky municipal district and visited the Dubensky agricultural production cooperative. According to Nikolai Denisov, the spring has been challenging due to returning frosts and snow. Currently, the average daily sowing rate is 20–25 thousand hectares. The total area for spring crops in the region is about 560 thousand hectares, with more than half sown so far. Nikolai Rybin, the director of the Dubensky agricultural production cooperative, who has headed the enterprise for almost 45 years, reported that the farm has completed sowing grain and plans to finish sowing corn by the end of the month. The dead winter crops have been reseeded, and the application of micro and macroelements continues. Rapeseed has been sown on an area of 450 hectares. To form the harvest of winter crops, nitrogen fertilizers are being applied and harrowing is taking place. More than 193 thousand hectares have been fertilized, and over 118 thousand hectares have been harrowed. In 2026, the total sown area in the Nizhny Novgorod region will exceed 1 million hectares. It is planned to sow 557.5 thousand hectares with spring crops, while the remaining area is allocated for winter crops and perennial grasses from previous years.
