The initiative to launch an alternative communication network was voiced on May 14 at a meeting between businesses and the deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yegor Polyakov. The proposal was made by a representative of the music project "Jam Records." This was reported by "NewsNN." According to him, the unstable operation of mobile internet complicates business operations and transactions. As a solution, he proposed creating a closed secure network in one of the cities in the region using domestic technologies. The Minister of Information Technology and Communications of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexander Sinelobov, explained that internet disruptions are related to security measures. At the same time, the region has already expanded the infrastructure for free network access, organizing more than 500 Wi-Fi hotspots. He noted separately that trade operations, including the operation of payment terminals and ATMs with SIM cards, remain the most sensitive to disruptions. In such cases, the main solution becomes switching to a Wi-Fi connection. However, the possibility of creating a closed network is not completely ruled out, but it requires significant financial investments and developed infrastructure. Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov emphasized that the project needs to be carefully calculated in terms of costs.
