A resident of Bor became the 25 millionth passenger of the Nizhny Novgorod cable car.
On May 14, 2026, at 17:45, the society celebrated the 25 millionth passenger on the Nizhny Novgorod cable car. The jubilee passenger was Ekaterina Kapustina, a resident of Bor. The symbolic milestone of 25 million passengers was recorded in real-time. Ekaterina learned that her trip was the jubilee one only after arriving at the station in Nizhny Novgorod.
At the station, the family was greeted by representatives of JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Cable Cars" and JSC "Urbantech Cable Cars," which conducted a large-scale modernization of the facility in 2025. Ekaterina Kapustina was presented with gifts—a pass for 500 rides, a laptop, and an air grill.
"This was a pleasant surprise for us. We regularly use the cable car: our eldest son travels to Nizhny Novgorod for preparatory courses, and we often come to the regional center with the younger children to walk and spend leisure time," said Ekaterina Kapustina.
Vladimir Kurenev, the General Director of JSC "Nizhny Novgorod Cable Cars," noted that over the years, the cable car has become an important part of the region's transport system and a familiar route for thousands of residents. According to him, the cable car remains a popular mode of transport that helps save time on the way and makes trips between Nizhny Novgorod and Bor faster and more comfortable.
Svetlana Ardentova, the General Director of Urbantech Cable Cars, emphasized that the figure of 25 million passengers confirms the high level of trust that residents of the region have in the cable car as a reliable mode of transport. "25 million passengers is not just a number. It represents the residents and tourists of the Nizhny Novgorod region, their daily trips, meetings, work, and leisure," noted Svetlana Ardentova. She added that the company, together with the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, continues to develop transport infrastructure and improve service quality.
In 2025, after modernization, the capacity of the cable car doubled—from 500 to 1,000 people per hour. The total stop time decreased by 62% compared to the same period last year. The operational availability coefficient was 99.5%.
It was previously reported that specialists in cable car operations began to be trained in the Nizhny Novgorod region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
