A judge will be tried in the Nizhny Novgorod region for an unjust verdict.
May 5, 2026 18:43 Incidents The judge of the Krasnoslobodsk District Court of the Republic of Mordovia has become a subject of a criminal case that will be reviewed by the Pochinkovsky District Court. This was reported by the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The judge is accused of issuing an unjust verdict against a man accused under part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a driver in a state of alcohol intoxication, resulting in death). During the process, a punishment allegedly below the minimum threshold was chosen using Article 64 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - two years of imprisonment in a settlement colony with a ban on engaging in activities related to vehicle management for a period of two years. According to the investigation, the judge chose the verdict not based on the law, but from a "personal request of other representatives of the judicial community." A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 305 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the issuance of a knowingly unlawful verdict by a judge). The date of the hearing has not yet been set. Earlier, we reported that the court fined the head of the Vachsky district for using a service vehicle on a day off.
