A resident of Gorodets faces up to 10 years in prison for attacking a bus driver.
On May 3, 2026, at 13:16, Incidents: A 49-year-old local resident will stand trial in Gorodets for attacking a bus driver. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The incident occurred in January at the final stop in Zavolzhye. A verbal altercation broke out between the man and the 65-year-old driver. At some point, the accused grabbed the driver by the jacket and sharply pulled him towards himself. The elderly man fell out of the cabin onto the icy asphalt, hit his head, and lost consciousness. The attacker left the scene, and the conductor called for an ambulance.
Medics diagnosed the victim with a severe traumatic brain injury and an orbital fracture. He required emergency surgery. An examination recognized the injuries as causing serious harm to health.
The attacker turned out to be previously convicted for drug-related crimes. Investigators gathered evidence that the man was aware of the danger of his actions. The defense's version that the man did not intend such consequences was refuted, pointing to the difference in physical strength and the icy conditions.
The investigation under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been completed. The criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court. The man could face up to 10 years in prison.
