      In Nizhny Novgorod, the operation mode of smart traffic lights will be adjusted before the summer period. This was reported by the Center for the Development of Transport Systems of the region.

      A special operation mode for traffic lights will be tested during the May holidays, when the intensity of traffic flows out of the city will increase. The goal of the changes is to increase the throughput of key "road arteries" on the exits from the capital of the Volga region. During this time, the operation modes of smart traffic lights on Gagarin Avenue (towards Arzamas and Bogorodsk), on Rodionov Street, and on Kazan Highway (towards Kstovo) will be adjusted.

      The system will help respond to traffic density, reduce waiting times at intersections, decrease the number of traffic jams during peak hours, and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles. If experts find areas that require additional adjustments based on the collected data, the management algorithms will be corrected.
