      April 29, 2026 19:18 Incidents A resident of Sarov was sent to a penal colony for storing gunpowder and an explosive device, the press service of the regional court reported. It was established that the man, without the appropriate permit, stored black powder as well as a homemade explosive device. The dangerous items were discovered and seized by employees of the FSB of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region. During the court proceedings, the defendant did not admit guilt. He stated that he had no connection to the seized items and had no intention of illegally storing them without the aim of selling. Despite this, the Diveevo District Court found the Sarov resident guilty under Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a fine of 50,000 rubles. He will serve his sentence in a general regime correctional colony. The convicted person was taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force. It was previously reported that the FSB had disrupted the activities of underground arms dealers in several regions of the country, including the Nizhny Novgorod region.
