More than 33,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod participated in the "Victory Dictation."

The "Victory Dictation" was written in person by more than 33 thousand residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This year, the historical testing took place at 699 sites in the region – 19 more than last year. Educational institutions, museums, libraries, military units, and law enforcement agencies joined the event. The central venue was the Palace of Children's Creativity named after V.P. Chkalov. There gathered deputies, activists of "United Russia," Victory Volunteers, students of the Palace, and veterans of the Special Military Operation.

Before the dictation began, a solemn opening took place: honorary guests addressed the participants with welcoming words, and volunteers performed the anthem of the Russian Federation. The start of the "Victory Dictation" worldwide was given by a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, honorary citizen of Nizhny Novgorod, and honored veteran of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yevgeny Ivanovich Makarov.

"The dictation is not a test of knowledge, but a tribute to the memory of the courage and heroism of our people during the Great Patriotic War. Russia has never been defeated, and no one will be able to defeat it. I declare the dictation open and wish you success," he addressed the participants.

"The residents of the region once again showed sincere, genuine interest in the history of the Great Patriotic War. This cannot but please and command respect. The event took place at all planned venues — without failures, clearly, in strict accordance with the regulations. This is the merit of both the organizers and the participants themselves. Now we need to summarize: after checking the works, winners will be determined, those who showed the best results. For our part, the party will continue to provide the necessary organizational base so that any resident of Nizhny Novgorod — regardless of age and place of residence — can check their knowledge of the Great Patriotic War and pay tribute to the generation of victors," said Dmitry Filipenko, head of the executive committee of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the "United Russia" party.

Every year, the organizers of the event are the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the "United Russia" party and the regional branch of the "Victory Volunteers" movement.

"The 'Victory Dictation' is not just a test of knowledge, but an important act of preserving historical memory. Each participant in the dictation becomes part of a great common cause: together we confirm that the feat of the generation of victors is not forgotten and will be passed on. For us, volunteers, it is especially valuable to see how people of different ages and professions unite around this initiative. This means that the connection of times is alive, and we share the responsibility for the truth about our history together. We are the heirs of the great Victory, and in this lies our strength," commented Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional organization of the "Victory Volunteers."

In 45 minutes, the participants of the dictation completed 25 tasks of varying difficulty. The historical test included questions about the course of key battles of the Great Patriotic War, personalities who influenced its outcome, hero cities, and cities of labor valor, as well as events of the special military operation.

"Today, more than ever, it is important to preserve historical truth, to resist attempts to distort it. The victory in the Great Patriotic War means millions of lives given so that we can live under a peaceful sky and on our land today. The meaning of the 'Victory Dictation' is not only to test knowledge of historical facts but also to express respect for everyone who brought the Day of Victory closer. This event is of great importance for the patriotic education of the younger generation, helping to pass on the values of the victorious country, preserve historical memory, and form a correct understanding of these events among young people," shared Yuri Balashov, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region and secretary of the local branch of the "United Russia" party in the Soviet district.

"The 'Victory Dictation' united people of different ages. And I am very glad that among the participants there are many young people. Schoolchildren, students — all of them are eager for knowledge about the events of the Great Patriotic War. And this means that the work we have done is not in vain. This is the foundation — to convey the true picture of those events to future generations, to preserve historical memory. President of Russia Vladimir Putin spoke about this. We are talking about this with you. I am sure that the 'Victory Dictation' has a great future ahead!" noted Vadim Bulavinov, a deputy of the State Duma from the Nizhny Novgorod region and regional coordinator of the "Historical Memory" project of the "United Russia" party.

One of the participants of the "Victory Dictation" was a veteran of the special military operation, participant of the educational program "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region," Ravil Ravilov. For him, this event has special significance.

"We must remember the events of 1941-1945 and show that we are worthy heirs of the Great Victory. During the Great Patriotic War and today in the Special Military Operation, guys are fighting for the right to live on this land. The 'Victory Dictation' is an opportunity to pay tribute and show that no one is forgotten, and nothing is forgotten," noted Ravil Ravilov.

After the testing within the framework of the "Letter to a Soldier" event, participants wrote words of support to military personnel on the special military operation.

The "Victory Dictation" also took place at the venue of the Public Support Headquarters of "United Russia."

As part of the event, a solemn award ceremony for medals "For Assistance to the Special Military Operation" was held. The awards were presented to activists who assist in collecting and sending humanitarian aid, participate in patriotic and volunteer initiatives, by Alexey Antonov, deputy chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

"Today's awards are a sign of deep gratitude to everyone who does not remain indifferent and proves their loyalty to the Motherland through deeds. Assistance to our guys on the front lines has united thousands of caring people: volunteers, entrepreneurs, public figures. By presenting these medals, we sincerely thank everyone who contributes their part. It is especially symbolic that we hold this award ceremony today, on the day when the whole country unites to remember the heroic pages of the Great Patriotic War. The connection of the generations of victors is unbreakable," emphasized the parliamentarian.

Afterward, the guests of the event joined the "Victory Dictation." The significance of the event was shared by Roman Zykov, head of the regional branch of the "Young Guard of United Russia," a veteran of the special military operation.

"Participation in the 'Victory Dictation' is both a test of our knowledge and our direct duty to our ancestors. It is important to remember the incredible price our people paid for freedom, so as not to allow anyone to distort or rewrite history. Today, when the country is once again defending its borders, knowledge of the truth about the past becomes a powerful weapon against any informational lies. Therefore, writing this dictation is important — it is the foundation for educating our youth and a guarantee of preserving national unity," he noted.

Participants will be able to find out the results of the testing on the website dictantpobedy.rf. Federal winners of the "Victory Dictation" will receive invitations to the Victory Parade on May 9 in Moscow. They will be determined through an electronic draw among participants who answered all questions correctly.

Let us remind you that the "Victory Dictation" has been traditionally held worldwide since 2019 in anticipation of Victory Day. The goal of the event is to engage the public in studying history and preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the Russian Federation.
