      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, 326.3 thousand square meters of housing have been commissioned since the beginning of 2026. This was reported by the governor of the region, Gleb Nikitin, at a meeting of the government commission on regional development in the Russian Federation, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin on April 23. According to Marat Khusnullin, as a result of the first quarter of 2026, 23 million square meters of housing and 6.9 million square meters of non-residential buildings have been commissioned in Russia. He noted that the tasks of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" and state programs remain unchanged. Gleb Nikitin presented an assessment of the current situation in the region and proposals to increase the availability of individual housing construction. He noted that the commissioning of apartment buildings has increased by 74%. The ratio of sold areas to construction readiness is 99%, which is above the national average. At the same time, a significant reduction in the commissioning of individual housing construction has been recorded. The governor linked the decrease in the volume of individual housing construction to the tightening of mortgage requirements for the construction and purchase of individual houses against the backdrop of a high key interest rate. The Ministry of Construction of the Nizhny Novgorod region reported that they expect to meet the planned indicators of the national project "Infrastructure for Life" for housing commissioning in 2026. Providing citizens with affordable housing remains one of the key areas of the national project initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
