      In mid-April 2026, the duty unit of police department No. 7 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod received a telegram from the city clinical hospital of the Avtozavodsky district stating that a patient with severe bodily injuries had been admitted. A 37-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod subsequently died from the injuries sustained. During well-planned operational-search activities, officers of the criminal investigation department of police department No. 7 were able to identify the individual responsible for the beating of the victim within a few hours, detain him, and bring him to police department No. 7 of the city’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was established that the 20-year-old suspect, while on Boris Kornilov Street, brutally beat a local resident whom he had not known before during a quarrel, after which he fled the scene. The Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region has initiated a criminal case under part 4 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional infliction of serious harm to health). The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect.
