In Nizhny Novgorod, the head of the ANO "Institute of Demographic Development," Yevgeny Zhuravlev, has been released from the pre-trial detention center. His preventive measure has been changed to a milder one, reports the regional department of the Investigative Committee.
According to the agency, the necessity to keep the director in custody has disappeared, which is why the decision was made to release him from arrest. Yevgeny Zhuravlev is currently under a travel ban.
Recall that the head of the Institute of Demographic Development was detained at the end of February. He was charged with large-scale fraud. According to the investigation, in 2025, Zhuravlev instructed a subordinate to enter false information about his presence at work into the timekeeping records. In fact, he did not perform his duties to the extent for which he was receiving a salary. The damage caused to the regional Ministry of Social Policy is estimated at no less than 350,000 rubles.
Additionally, Yevgeny Zhuravlev headed the Institute of Demographic Development in 2024. The structure was created to study the requests of Nizhny Novgorod residents, develop support measures in collaboration with relevant agencies, and establish a dialogue with residents.
