      The number of patients infected with norovirus in the Uren district has increased to 70 people. This is reported by "Nizhny Novgorod Truth".

      Natalya Sadykova, deputy head of the regional Rospotrebnadzor, noted at a press conference in the regional information center that no new episodes of infection have been recorded in the municipality over the past two days. "The outbreak was identified on Sunday, April 5. The first patients began arriving at the local hospital in the evening with complaints of nausea and digestive problems, indicating signs of poisoning," says Natalya Sadykova. From April 5 to 7, 54 residents sought medical assistance. By April 9, seven people remained in the infectious department of the district hospital, six of whom are children. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding the provision of unsafe services, and the head of the agency, Alexander Bastrykin, has requested a report on the progress of the investigation. According to Rospotrebnadzor, the infection occurred due to the consumption of tap water contaminated with flood or sewage water.

      Earlier, we reported that on April 8, 2026, residents of the Uren district of the Nizhny Novgorod region were hospitalized with signs of poisoning. Rospotrebnadzor specialists subsequently identified the presence of norovirus and initiated a criminal case regarding the incident. The preliminary cause was attributed to the consumption of unboiled water from the central water supply.
