Nizhny Novgorod dacha owners face a fine of up to 20,000 rubles for barbecuing on their property.
Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region are allowed to grill meat and other food over an open fire in barbecues and grills, but only if certain rules are followed. Otherwise, a fine of up to 20,000 rubles may be imposed. This was reported by Lyudmila Buryakova, head of the public reception of the Gardeners' Union, to RIA Novosti. According to Buryakova, shashlik and other food can be cooked on barbecues and grills no closer than five meters from residential houses and outbuildings on the plot. Additionally, the ground nearby must be cleared for up to two meters. If a person violates these fire safety requirements, they may face a fine ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 rubles. In regions where a special fire safety regime has been introduced, open fires for shashlik are not allowed at all. Only stationary barbecues and grills with lids, which are considered safer, are permitted. In such cases, according to Buryakova, a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 rubles is immediately issued.
