VTB experts predicted the emergence of personalized banks thanks to AI.

April 10, 2026 14:42 Society The development of artificial intelligence (AI) may lead to the emergence of individual banks for clients, as people will be able to customize credit organizations to their personal preferences. This was stated by Denis Surzhko, Deputy Head of the Data Analysis and Modeling Department – Vice President of VTB, at the bank's Data Fusion conference. "The trend started with us producing products, such as robo-advisors, where there were settings, and the client could customize something for themselves. Now we are somewhat like hypnotists or mediums who communicate with artificial intelligence, but not in the language of pendulums and voice tones, but in the language of advanced prompts, with the aim of configuring AI so that it interacts and works individually with each client. We are also successfully implementing code generation using AI, which will result in more code. The expansion of scripts will allow artificial intelligence to make everything personalized for clients. As a result, this trend leads to each client receiving their individual bank," Surzhko explained.

According to Surzhko, on one hand, this trend has a positive impact, but on the other hand, such banks may lose control in terms of providing services to clients. "If all our content is different, what will we discuss among ourselves? Here, hyper-personalization runs into one of the oldest debates: 2500 years ago, Protagoras claimed that man is the measure of all things, while Socrates argued that there exists an objective good, and only the wisest can contemplate this good, thus being able to be the measure. The ancient Greeks awarded victory to Socrates. But now hyper-personalization again puts the opposite position at the forefront, that man is the measure of everything," Surzhko reflects.

This trend does not pose any risks for banking services because, in this case, banks are only producing a tool, Surzhko continues. "The more convenient a hammer, axe, or knife is for a person, the better. But in terms of what is close to art, which is content generation, this debate should give rise to some internal philosophical doubts among those engaged in this application of artificial intelligence," the expert warned.
