An employee of a scientific organization in Sarov was convicted for manipulating bonuses.

      On April 10, 2026, at 18:23, Incidents In Sarov, an employee of a scientific organization was found guilty of fraud related to bonus payments. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The former head of the thematic planning and economics department of one of the organizations was convicted of exceeding official authority, committed by a group of individuals in collusion for selfish interest (paragraphs "g" and "e" of part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      As established by the investigation and the court, from 2017 to 2024, the convicted individual acted in concert with the former head of the research laboratory. They systematically initiated the accrual of operational bonuses to certain subordinate employees in inflated amounts. After that, the laboratory head would give employees knowingly illegal instructions to transfer part of the received funds to him. Then, the laboratory head demanded that employees hand over part of the bonuses to him. Subsequently, he disposed of this money at his discretion, and part of it was transferred to his accomplice.

      The violations were identified and suppressed by investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in cooperation with operational staff of the FSB of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The court sentenced the defendant to 3 years and 3 months of conditional imprisonment. In addition, he is prohibited from engaging in activities related to the performance of organizational, administrative, and economic functions in organizations operating in the defense industry and nuclear energy for two years.

      The criminal case against the second defendant is currently under consideration by the court. It was previously reported that former rector of NGLU named after Dobrolyubov Zhanna Nikonova and two of her former employees will be tried for embezzlement and exceeding official authority.
