In Nizhny Novgorod, the investigation into a criminal case of embezzlement in a particularly large amount has been completed. The accused is a 41-year-old accountant from the Nizhny Novgorod branch of a Russian telecommunications company, reports the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
It turned out that the woman had been working according to her scheme for almost two years: from May 2023 to March 2025. The accused, using her official position, canceled accruals on the accounts of legal entities in the accounting systems. The contractual relationships with these companies had already been terminated, but communication services were provided to them.
As a result, both accounts receivable and accounts payable appeared simultaneously in the accounting records. This allowed the woman to issue fictitious refunds and transfer money to her father's account. The total amount stolen exceeded 9.6 million rubles. When investigators asked where the money had gone, the woman replied: she bet on sports. All this time she worked as an accountant, and in her spare time, apparently, she hoped for a big win. But fortune was not on her side. Almost ten million rubles disappeared in an unknown direction, and the traces of the fraud led the police straight to her.
During the investigation, the woman admitted her guilt and partially returned the money to the company - a total of 3.3 million rubles. The criminal case has already been sent to court. Now the accountant faces up to ten years in prison for embezzlement in a particularly large amount.
