Water is rising: more than 400 areas in the Nizhny Novgorod region are flooded.
On April 5, 2026, at 09:38, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the number of flooded areas has increased over the past day due to the spring flood. Updated data on the situation was presented by the regional emergency management agency. According to the agency, water has entered the adjacent plots in the village of Prudy in the Bogorodsky district, the village of Chertas in the Bolshie Boldino district, and the working settlement of Shatki. In addition, two road bridges over the Tyozha River have been flooded — on the road section between the village of Berezovka and the village of Zarechnoye, as well as in the village of Maryevka in the Arzamas district. Preliminary reports indicate that there are no casualties or injuries, and evacuation of residents is not required. The situation is under constant control: round-the-clock monitoring has been organized, and operational groups from municipalities are tracking the flood situation daily.
In total, 23 cases of flooding remain under control in 14 municipalities. Among them are 11 low-water bridges, two sections of highways, and 402 household plots in various districts of the region, including Arzamas, Kulebaki, Sarov, Vyksa, Uren, and several other settlements. Erosion of two road sections and overflow of the roadway in the Kulebaki district have also been recorded. The head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, Valery Sinkov, checked the situation in the Vyksa and Kulebaki districts during a working trip. As noted by the agency, the situation in certain settlements raises serious concern.
In the settlement of Provolochnoe, water has approached private houses closely. To reduce the risk of further flooding, emergency services and local administration representatives are working to pump out water. The situation remains complicated in the Kulebaki district, where erosion of a temporary bridge has occurred. Continuous monitoring is being conducted there, and a temporary pedestrian crossing and boat ferry have been organized for residents. In addition, specialists are conducting door-to-door visits, assisting residents, and pumping water from basements. The issue of restoring the bridge is planned to be addressed after the situation stabilizes and the water level decreases.
Earlier, it was reported that two bridges were closed on the highway "Vladimir — Murom — Arzamas" due to the flood. It should be noted that this spring, 70 settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod region are at risk. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
