The Patriarch of All Russia ordained Archimandrite Josiah as the Bishop of Lyskovsky.
April 5, 2026 19:27 Society On April 5, on Palm Sunday, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus' conducted the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. This was reported on the website of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis. During the service, Archimandrite Josiah (Sidunov) was ordained as the Bishop of Lyskovsky and Lukoyanovsky. The decision on his appointment was made earlier by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on March 12. He now heads the Lyskov Diocese of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolis. Before the start of the service, the patriarch bowed to the Vladimir and Don icons of the Mother of God, as well as to the relics of Saint Philaret, Metropolitan of Moscow.
Present at the service were the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, the chairman of the LDPR, Leonid Slutsky, Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Elena Serova, and other guests. After the liturgy, Patriarch Kirill addressed the new bishop with words of encouragement and presented him with the archpastoral staff. Then Bishop Josiah blessed the faithful for the first time.
The patriarch also celebrated the feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem and addressed the parishioners. In conclusion, church awards were presented. The patriarch congratulated the faithful on the holiday and wished them God's blessing, emphasizing the importance of preserving spiritual values and Orthodox faith.
