Six villages have become settlements in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On April 4, 2026, 15:45 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, six settlements immediately changed their status from village to selo. The corresponding laws have been published on the official legal acts publication portal. The documents were adopted by the Legislative Assembly on March 27 and signed by the governor on April 3. The changes affected settlements in the Vetluzhsky and Voskresensky districts. In the Vetluzhsky district, the villages of Tokarikhа (Volynovsky rural council) and Kruttsy (Novouspensky rural council) received the status of selo, while in the Voskresensky district, the villages of Bezvodnoye (Staroustinsky rural council), Bogdanovo (Bogorodsky rural council), Osinovka (Yegorovsky rural council), and Puzeyevo (Blagoveshchensky rural council) were granted the same status. The decisions were made taking into account the opinions of residents expressed during surveys and were also supported by the Councils of Deputies. The need for changes is related to the fact that after the unification of settlements into municipal districts, there were settlements with the same name and type within their boundaries, belonging to different rural councils. This created difficulties in maintaining the state address registry, as the rules of addressing require that the name and type of the settlement must be unique within one municipal formation.
