He died on December 17, 2025, while performing a combat mission in the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. He is survived by his wife and a 1.2-year-old son. The farewell to the warrior will take place on April 6, 2026, at the New Southern Cemetery temple starting at 10:00, with the funeral service at 12:00. A memorial lunch will be held at the "Avenue" cafe. Defender of the homeland Alexander Sergeyevich Chikenev will be buried with military honors at the Alley of Heroes of the New Southern Cemetery.
