Two Nizhny Novgorod universities entered the top 100 best in Russia.

      March 31, 2026 07:00 Science Two universities from Nizhny Novgorod have made it into the top 100 best universities in Russia according to Forbes magazine. NNGU named after Lobachevsky ranked 37th, while the Privolzhsky Research Medical University took the 80th spot. The leading positions in the ranking were occupied exclusively by universities from Moscow and St. Petersburg. The top ten included, in particular, HSE, Lomonosov Moscow State University, MIPT, ITMO, and St. Petersburg State University. Various indicators were taken into account when compiling the ranking, including the reputation of educational institutions among employers, their recognition in the international scientific community, as well as the level of alumni business connections and other criteria. It was previously reported that six universities from Nizhny Novgorod were included in the ranking of the best universities in the Volga region compiled by RAEX specialists.
