From March 1 to March 31, 2026, the call center of the "112" system in the Nizhny Novgorod region received more than 144.5 thousand requests from residents of the region. Over the month, the number of calls for fire assistance increased by 19% (to 1,110), for emergency medical assistance by 14% (to 44,319), and for police assistance by 2% (to 18,072). The number of calls for gas service specialists decreased by 25% (to 1,220). The "112" service operates around the clock. If necessary, the dispatcher can take calls in a foreign language. Psychological assistance can also be requested at the center — it was used 22 times in the past month. Emergency information can be sent to the "112" number in the form of an SMS message. The number can be dialed from any mobile phone even if there are no funds in the subscriber's account, as well as from a phone without a SIM card. The main requirement is that the phone must be within the coverage area of any mobile operator's network. People with hearing impairments can also contact the "112" call center. To do this, they need to send a message to a short number with the text: "I am deaf." Then, they should provide their full name and briefly describe what kind of assistance is needed. Specialists will accept the request and, if necessary, ask clarifying questions via SMS messages.
