The Priokskiy district is preparing for the month of improvement: workers are cleaning the storm drains and curb strips, stirring up snow and collecting garbage.

      In the run-up to the beautification month announced by the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, from April 5 to May 15, city services are putting the streets and yards of the Prioksky district in order. As reported by the district administration, throughout the last week, cleaning and snow stirring, as well as collection and removal of melted waste, have been carried out in the area. The head of the Prioksky district administration, Mikhail Shatilov, noted that the heavy snowfalls this winter have been a real test for the road services and thanked the residents of Prioksky who helped them in difficult weather conditions: "A lot of work lies ahead for cleaning the district; for us, the beautification month has already started this week. Road workers continue to clear stormwater drains and curbs, and clean the curbside strips. For example, today work is ongoing on Gagarin Avenue, Marshal Zhukov Street, and Larina Street. This week, an inventory of the boulevards and squares that were improved under the federal program 'Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment' of the national project 'Infrastructure for Life' was also conducted. I will definitely conduct inspections in our district and participate in community clean-ups with its residents," said the head of the district administration. He added that card repairs of roads using "cold asphalt" are currently underway, and road services have been working in recent days on 40 Years of Victory Street, Shatkovskaya Street, Gornaya Street, and Larina Street. Earlier, the city head, Yuri Shalabaev, reported that he held a large meeting with the heads of districts and road workers. "We discussed urgent matters - bringing the city in order after the snowiest winter in the history of meteorological observations. Equipment is being re-equipped 'for summer', workers are cleaning roads, curbside strips, removing waste that has surfaced from under the snow, and starting to wash fences and bus stops. Soon we will begin washing the roadway, including with shampoo. And the traditional beautification month for our city will be held from April 5 to May 15. We are still determining the date for the citywide clean-up. We expect more than 20,000 Nizhny Novgorod residents to participate," the mayor reported.
