In the Nizhny Novgorod region, it is planned to test more than a million people for HIV in 2026. The target indicator of the regional strategy has been increased to 37% of the population. Doctors expect to examine over 800,000 adults and about 200,000 children and adolescents, writes the Telegram channel "Bokal presseka."
Medical professionals remind that HIV testing for Russian citizens is conducted free of charge. It can be done at the clinic at the place of residence, at the regional AIDS center, or in a mobile laboratory.
According to the chief physician of the center, Solomon Apoyan, HIV often does not manifest itself in the early stages. That is why testing is recommended for everyone who takes their health and the safety of their loved ones seriously. Specialists note that it is especially important to consider testing when there is a prolonged fever lasting more than a month, as well as when lymph nodes are enlarged in several areas, if this condition persists for a long time.
