Due to the heavy snowfall that fell in Nizhny Novgorod the day before, several popular ice rinks were forced to suspend their operations on January 8. Today's weather conditions will not improve, so the ice rinks will remain closed, the city directorate of parks and squares reported.
On January 9 skating will be unavailable in Dubki Park, 1 May Park and Avtozavodsky Park. Also on that day the rink in Switzerland Park will not be open.
The listed ice rinks are expected to reopen for visitors on Saturday, January 10, when weather conditions improve slightly.
"On Friday cleaning and flooding/resurfacing of the ice surfaces will be carried out so that guests can enjoy skating in comfortable conditions," the parks and squares directorate clarified.
It is worth noting that the rink at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair continues to operate. However, as the administration of the public space reported, there are no tickets left: both concessionary and paid tickets have already been sold out through January 11.
Earlier it was reported that about 35,000 people skated in Nizhny Novgorod parks during the New Year holidays.
