Over the eleven months of 2025, 56 incidents were recorded involving children on the safe routes "Home–School–Home". In 21 of these accidents the children were injured due to their own carelessness.

There were 202 accidents recorded involving child passengers; increases in such accidents were recorded in Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Sarov, Balakhninsky, Bolsheboldinsky, Buturlinsky, Vadsky, Varnavinsky, Vorotynsky, Gaginsky, Gorodetsky, Dalnekonstantinovsky, Kstovsky, Pervomaysky, Perevozsky, Pilninsky, Pochinkovsky, Semenovsky, Sergachsky, Sechenovsky, Sosnovsky, Chkalovsky and Sharangsky districts. In more than half of these accidents the underage drivers were injured due to their own careless behavior. There were 83 (+7.8%, 77) incidents registered, resulting in 1 child killed (previous year — 1) and 82 (previous year 78) teenagers injured.       Evaluating preventive activities aimed at preventing road accidents involving children, it should be noted that over the eleven months of 2025, a total of 1,101 administrative offense reports under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation were drawn up and submitted for consideration to the Commission on Juvenile Affairs and the Protection of Their Rights (KDN i ZP), of which 755 were drawn up during supervisory activities and 346 after accidents that occurred due to the fault of minors.

On the territory of the Lukoyanov municipal district, 6 road accidents involving children and adolescents were registered; in one incident a child pedestrian was injured, in another a child passenger was injured, and in four cases the children were riding bicycles and motorcycles — the accidents occurred due to the children’s own carelessness.

During the winter holiday period the main transport risk factor for minors is their participation in road traffic as pedestrians and passengers. Particular concern is caused by interregional and intra-regional transportation of minors by motor vehicles, as well as the significantly increasing number of children on the streets without proper supervision by parents (legal guardians).

Winter is a time for fun and games! Sledding and ice skating are everyone’s favorite winter pastimes. Speed, the whistle of the cold wind, a storm of overflowing emotions! But one should not forget about safety.

With the onset of the winter period, taking into account weather conditions that contribute to the natural formation of dangerous sledding hills, ice ridges and snow slides that extend onto the carriageway and are used by children for sledding and playing, the likelihood of vehicles striking children, as well as accidents involving children while sledding, increases sharply.

When sledding during the winter period, it is necessary to strictly observe safety requirements.

In order to create conditions to reduce the likelihood of injury to minors, from December 22, 2025 to January 11, 2026 specialized events "Winter Holidays" will be held in the Nizhny Novgorod region. One of the priority areas will be identifying dangerous winter sledding hills whose runouts lead onto the carriageway. Also, great attention will be paid to the rules for transporting children by motor vehicles and to child pedestrians.

The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Lukoyanov municipal district strongly recommends that adults exert maximum effort to ensure the safety of minor road users. To this end, it is necessary to remind children daily of the rules of safe behavior near roads and when crossing the carriageway, and when arranging organized transportation of children to choose a carrier that complies with the requirements of the Government of the Russian Federation.

We call on all road users to strictly comply with the traffic rules. Adults, set the right example for children. Pedestrians, cross the road only if you are sure it is safe; wear reflective elements. When traveling in vehicles use seat belts and child restraint systems; fasten your children and yourselves.

The long New Year holidays are a great opportunity to spend time with your children. Take care of their safety on the roads during the holiday period!

Our common task is to prevent the death and injury of young road users.
