The Nizhny Novgorod Military School in Kstovo was presented with the St. George's Banner.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Guards Higher Military Engineering Command School was once again awarded the highest military honor — the St. George Banner. The solemn presentation ceremony took place on December 29.

      The combat symbol of the engineering troops — a banner with St. George ribbons — was handed over by the Chief of the Engineering Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yuri Stavitsky. The banner was presented to the head of the school, Colonel Igor Pavelko.

      Among those attending the ceremony were Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Alexander Pavlov, Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Yuri Shalabaev, representatives of government bodies, clergy, veteran and public organizations, youth army cadets and military personnel.

      In his welcoming remarks, Alexander Pavlov emphasized that the presentation of the St. George Banner is not just a ceremony, but a sign of the continuation of the heroic history of the educational institution.

      "Today is confirmation that the traditions of one of Russia's oldest military educational institutions are alive and developing. Military engineers have always played a key role in defending the Fatherland. Their knowledge, courage and selflessness have repeatedly contributed to victories on the battlefields. I congratulate you on this landmark event and wish you to be worthy of the glorious feats of your ancestors," the deputy head of the region said.

      The head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, recalled that the reopening of the school 13 years after its closure was a significant event for the entire city.

      After the official part, the cadets marched solemnly before those gathered with the new banner. Guests were also shown samples of advanced engineering weaponry, demonstrating the troops' modern capabilities.

      It should be recalled that the military school in Kstovo opened on September 1, 2025.
