The Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, signed a decree extending the validity of regional support measures for families of participants in the special military operation (SMO) for another year. They will now be in effect until 31 December 2026.
The support measures were introduced in October 2022 and cover a wide range of social and financial benefits. These include a monthly compensation of 50% of the cost of housing and utility services within standard limits, payments to pregnant women and to underage children in the amount of 10,000 rubles. Also provided are exemptions from fees for kindergartens and extended-day groups, free meals for schoolchildren and college students, and access to sports clubs and additional education.
Families with incomes below the subsistence minimum receive a monthly payment of 10,000 rubles. In addition, they are granted preferential rights to transfer children to educational institutions located closer to their place of residence.
Special attention is paid to medical and psychological assistance: SMO participants and their families can count on free treatment, rehabilitation and psychological support. Other support measures are also provided.
Earlier it was reported that 70% of veterans returning from the SMO zone have been successfully employed in the region.
