      The Kuybyshev District Court denied former Nizhny Novgorod mayor Oleg Sorokin parole. This was reported by the United Press Service of the Judicial System of the Omsk Region.

      Recall that the former official was sentenced to ten years in a maximum-security colony and fined 460.8 million rubles for bribery and complicity in the kidnapping of a person. He has been serving the sentence for eight years.

      Earlier in October it became known that Oleg Sorokin filed a petition for early release, but the court ruled to leave the sentence in force. As a result, he decided to appeal the decision.

      Earlier, the brother of the former deputy mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Ilya Shtokman, was detained.
