Free meals will begin to be provided to schoolchildren eligible for benefits in Kstovo.

      Schoolchildren from the Kstovsky District who fall into eligible categories will begin receiving free meals from the beginning of 2026. The city Duma deputies made the corresponding decision by approving an expansion of the list of recipients of the social benefit.

      The document establishing the list of eligible categories was developed in connection with the incorporation of the Kstovsky District into Nizhny Novgorod. Similar measures have long been in effect in the schools of the Volga capital, and they are now being extended to the new territories, which has caused the number of beneficiaries to increase many times over. Previously only two categories of students in Kstov schools were entitled to free lunches, but their number has now been increased to 22.

      More than 170 million rubles have been allocated in the budget for the implementation of the initiative. The new measure will come into force on January 1, 2026.

      It should be added that earlier the Youth Chamber under the city Duma proposed granting meal subsidies to children from student families.
