Over 10 months — from January to October of the current year — the number of domestic trips reached 76.2 million. This is 4.8% more than in the same period last year," said Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko. His press service reports this. Chernyshenko noted that measures under the national project "Tourism and Hospitality" largely help the growth of tourist flows and the development of regional infrastructure. "Such results contribute to achieving the goal set by President Vladimir Putin — to ensure by 2030 an increase in tourism's share of the country's GDP to 5% and the number of tourist trips to 140 million," Chernyshenko said. The deputy prime minister added that thanks to support measures from the federal government a positive trend has been maintained for the fifth year: 2021 — 66.5 million (40% more than in 2020), 2022 — 73.1 million (almost 10% more than in 2021), 2023 — 83.6 million (14% more than in 2022), 2024 — 90 million (almost 8% more than in 2023). Last year, 2024, was a record year for the number of tourist trips within Russia — then their number rose by 37% compared to 2021. "We see a stable trend toward expanding the geography of travel across Russia. This is supported by the comprehensive development of tourist infrastructure, an increase in the number of hotel rooms and the creation of new attractions, which overall raises the quality and variety of the tourism product," said Russia's Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov.
